Who is the target of the biochemical analysis?

Who is the target of the biochemical analysis?

To be able to analyze if the final laboratory report does satisfy the expectation that, the authentic patient biochemical condition can be interpreted, definitely the following question has to be asked:

Who or what is the target of the biochemical analysis?
a)     The patient blood sample?
b)     The own patient?

The first option correlates suitably to the current practice.

The second one requires, from the clinical laboratory professional, a greater commitment as well as to have the appropriate background to be able to help interpret the report and, also, to aid the physician to use all the available tools for each particular case scenario.

As a patient I will, definitely, look for a clinical laboratory which is able to perform that task.

The indication of treatment or the steps to be followed by the physician regarding my health condition cannot be obtained by a numerical result only. The first choice corresponds to a chemical analysis report which doesn’t even indicate the result uncertainty range.

The second choice corresponds to a truthfully clinical laboratory report which will be the focal point of discussion of this blog.
